Estrella's Real Parents

Estrella was surprised when Chrys told her she was needed in Canterlot, and when she was sent to the throne room. She was astonished when she was left alone with Princess Luna, and when Luna said she knew her parents. But what left her completely dumbfounded, absolutely positively at a loss for words was when Luna told her that single, solemn sentence. 
   "Your parents are gone."
Gone, as in never coming back. As in no warm cuddles by the hearth. No kisses when she fell down. No consolation when somepony broke her heart. She would live out the rest of her days never knowing her real parents. 
  Estrella couldn't breathe. It was as if the air did not even want to be breathed by such a sad pathetic pony. It was as if...no...it WAS that the last the glimmer, the last bit of hope that she would get to meet her parents.....was extinguished. The whole world fell from right under her. As she gasped for breath on the ground, the lump in her throat not helping her, Luna stood over her and helped her to her hooves. She told Estrella everything: Who her parents were. How they died. What they were like. Everything. She also explained why she knew so much.
  "She was my apprentice, " Luna explained, "your mother was the best student I'd ever met. She was similar to Princess Twilight in that she was very intelligent, very determined, and very talented at what she did. But, she was so kind. So caring. She knew how to make ponies happy more than anyone I knew. I got to watch her grow and fall in love, at least for a few years. I got to watch her become a mother and be happy with who she was and the future she would have. Your father was an equally kind and caring stallion. He was a doctor and great at what he did. They were so perfect together, so perfect as a family. But, of course, anything that is ever perfect will always be tarnished by terrible things. I used to think when Stellar Skies and Fine 'N Dandy died that I would never be happy again. But then I realized......if we didn't have any sad moments how would we ever be happy? We would have nothing to compare them to. I started to realize how blessed I was. And you should too. You may have ups and downs in your life, but remember this: Cherish all of your life. Every moment, no matter how insignificant, is worth a fortune in the long run." 
   Estrella sat back for a moment. Luna was so right. "Thank you...." she whispered. 
 Then Luna explained that she felt from the day Estrella was born that she had powerful magic. Luna told her how she could sense it so clearly, even when she was an infant. She asked Ella to become her new student. 
  "ME?"
   "Yes, Estrella. You may not realize it-"
   "I'LL DO IT!"
   "You'll....uh....what?"
   "I'll become your student. When do we start?"
   "Uuuuh next week. But Estre-"
   "Ok! See you then!"
Luna stared dumbfounded as Estrella galloped down the hall. 
  She's definitely her mother's daughter, Luna thought to herself with a laugh.
